Games - A twist on a oldie but a goodie

One of our readers, Nicola, suggested a twist on a game, that I absolutely loved!  This game is very similar to the “How well does the bride know the groom” game, but instead you have the bride compete with the her new mother-in-law!    Here are questions that you can ask both ladies, and see who wins!

1. How many times has he been in hospital?
2. What size shoe does he wear?
3. What football (insert appropriate sport) position did he play?
4. What age was he when he first kissed a girl?
5. What is the name of his favorite high school teacher?
6. What fraternity was he in?
7. What was his first job out of college?
8. What is the name of his best friend growing up?
9. Has the groom ever been arrested?  If so, for what? (only for liberal mother-in-laws!)
10. How many weddings has the groom been in the wedding party?
11. What is the groom’s favorite drink?
12. What is the groom’s favorite sports team?
13. What is the groom’s favorite workout?
14. Where did the groom go for his bachelor party?
15.  What is the groom’s favorite restaurant?
16. What is the groom’s favorite home cooked meal?
17. What is the groom’s favorite place to vacation?
18. Did the groom get in trouble growing up?
19. Where did the groom propose to the bride?
20. What is his favorite movie?
21. What is his favorite bar?
22. What does the groom like on his pizza?
23. What was the name of the street where the groom had his first apartment?
24. What kind of car did the groom have in college?
25. What is the name of the groom’s favorite lady?! (a fun way to finish the game, especially if they are both present!)

Games – Famous Couples

This is a cute, fun game that everyone can participate in.  It is pretty simple, gets competitive, and is guaranteed to make you laugh.  The goal is to make as many pairs of celebrity couples as possible.  The rules of the game are pretty easy. One team member calls out the name on the paper slip and her teammates try to call out the person’s partner.  So, for example, if the paper says Angelina, your teammates would answer Brad!

You will need:

- A large bowl
- 50 small pieces of paper with one member of the famous couple written on it
- 5 sheets of paper
- 10 pens
- A timer

Divide the ladies into groups of 4 or 5 and have them sit together.  Next, each team gets 30 seconds to call out as many pairs as possible.  If the ladies get stuck on a name, they can have their announcer give them a hint.  So, from our previous example, if the paper said Angelina, and the group didn’t know Brad Pitt, the announcer could say something like, “he was married to Jennifer Aniston” or “he was in Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” If they still don’t know they can pass and lose one point.  You can usually play 3 rounds and have a good laugh and then declare the winning team.  Check out the Goodie Bags link for prize ideas for the winning team.

Tip for this game: Make sure that you mix up the couples into politics (Bill and Hillary), cartoons (Wilma and Fred) and celebrities.  It is a fun unexpected twist that people won’t expect.

Games – I Never….

This is a fun game to play if you are having an intimate bachelorette party of ladies who are all close friends.  I do not recommend this game for large groups, as it has the tendency to get out of hand! 

 

The best place to play this game is in the privacy of your home or hotel room.  I think that it is fun to line up shots in front of the bachelorette, and have everyone else have one shot and one glass of bubbly. 

 

Next, you take turns saying something like, “I have never gone on two dates in one evening….”  And, everyone who has never done that stays put, while everyone else takes a shot or sip of their drink.  You keep taking turns, and it is fun to direct questions towards the bride.  This game definitely escalates, so just keep it short and sweet with two rounds of questions and everyone is sure to have a great time!

 

Here are some questions that will help get you thinking…..

 

“I have never maxed out a credit card with one purchase….”

“I have never called a different guy while on a date with a boyfriend….”

“I have never kissed two guys in one night….”

Game: Scavenger Hunt

I think that Scavenger Hunts are one of the best ways to break the ice, and have everyone participate.  If you bachelorette group looks anything like me and my group of friends, you have 3 engaged ladies, 3 pregnant ladies, 3 single ladies, and 3 older family ladies – 1 mom and 2 aunts!  This is a game that everyone can enjoy together. 

I know that there are a few different versions of this game, but here is the best one that we have tested and tried…..

The Mission :  Complete all items on the bachelorette action list without losing a member of your team!

Divide into teams of 3 or 4, more ladies gets too be too crazy.  (The more teams you have the longer your bachelorette action list can be.)

I think that this game works MUCH better when there are no cars, taxis or buses involved, and you can simply walk from bar to bar. All teams must report to bar number 4 by 10:30 pm and the winning team is the group of ladies who have completed the most items off their list.  If you are late to the bar – you lose 2 points for every minute you are late!  This is to encourage everyone to party together instead of running off into separate groups at different bars. 

A great prize could be lollipops made for such an occasion!

Games : Story Time!!!

 

Often, the bride to be has a few different circles of friends, and her wedding is the first time they all come together.  While she may have a great time having all her favorite people in the same room, sometimes it is nerve racking for those in attendance.

 

I always think that this game is one of the best ways to start off any party.  This should be played in the earlier part of the evening over dinner or cocktails.

 

 

 

Have the girls sit together and tell the funniest stories they have experienced with the Bride to Be. This is a great way for people to get to know one another. Pass around a wrapped Toy, which girls hold when it is their turn to speak. The girl with the funniest story gets to unwrap the present, which is sure to cause a few laughs as well.

Game : "How well does the bride know the groom?"

 

Hi ladies - here is one of my favorite games. I call it "How well does she know he?"

How well does the bride know the groom? Before the party, the hostesses needs to ask the groom 20 or so questions about himself. This is a great opportunity to have a cocktail one on one with your BF's man, so make it fun.

At the party have the ladies down how many of the twenty questions they think the bachelorette will get right. I think that it is more fun if you take bets! Everyone can pitch in a dollar, and the winner will get 1/2 of the money. The other half will be spent buying drinks for the bachelorette.

Some question ideas:

1. What was kind of animal was his first pet?

2. What was its name?

3. What is his favorite music group?

4. What is his favorite color?

5. What is his favorite meal that the bride has made?

6. What is the bride's favorite restaurant?

7. What is the groom's favorite restaurant?

8. Where was their first date?

9. Will he take out the garbage?

10. Where did they get engaged?

11. How old is his oldest pair of underwear?

12. How old was he when he had his first kiss?

13. What day did he say is their aniversary?

14. What exact words did he say when he asked her to marry him?

15. What is his favorite sports team?

16. What is his favorite car?

17. What kind of beer does he drink?

18. What is his favorite hobby?

19. When was the last time he made dinner for her and what was it?

20. What does he like on his pizza?

Add some juicy questions and this game will be a big hit. Questions that have yes/no answers, or use numbers, specific days, or times are also really fun. When you are done asking the groom the questions, ask him how many of them he thinks the bride will get right. Compare his guess to her performance. The look on the brides face when she learns about her husband-to-be is priceless.
